Microchipping

Thousands of pets are lost each year due to loose collars or lost ID tags. Miller Animal Hospital offers microchipping for your pet so that you never have to worry about lost ID tags again.

Microchipping is a safe, painless, permanent and effective way to ID your pet. It can be used for dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and even tortoises. The microchip itself is a small device about the size of a grain of rice. Your veterinarian will insert the microchip between your pet’s shoulder blades under the skin. Out staff will scan the chip after it is inserted to make sure the chip is working.

Once the microchip is implanted, it is important to register it with the national data base so that if your pet is ever lost, it can be scanned and returned to you. It is the owner’s responsibility to maintain current information with the national registry.
